Carol Burnett to reprise AMC's Verla Grubbs

All My Children's biggest celebrity fan is headed back to Pine Valley. Carol Burnett, who has played Verla Grubbs off-and-on since 1983, will return in September to help close out the show's 41-year run.

Long-time All My Children fan Carol Burnett will return to All My Children for a few episodes this September as Verla Grubbs.

Burnett first appeared as Verla, the long-lost daughter of Langley Wallingford, in 1983. Throughout her appearances on the show, Burnett played opposite legendary actresses Eileen Herlie (Myrtle Fargate) and Ruth Warrick (Phoebe Wallingford), both of whom have now passed away. In 1984, Burnett and Herlie teamed up with Academy Award-winning actress Elizabeth Taylor in a scene on All My Children.

Burnett returned to AMC in 1995 to mark the show's 25th anniversary, and the actress also hosted a 25th anniversary primetime special. She reprised her role for the show's 35th Anniversary episode in 2005, and will now play Verla Grubbs one last time opposite Susan Lucci (Erica Kane) and Jill Larson (Opal Cortlandt).

"It is our honor and pleasure to welcome back Carol Burnett to Pine Valley," All My Children's executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers, remarked. "Verla Grubbs is a beloved member of the All My Children family and we look forward to reprising her character."

Burnett is a multi-award-winning actress, picking up three Emmys and five Golden Globes for The Carol Burnett Show, as well as numerous other accolades during her career.

Burnett will first air on September 6.
